What’s the SHSAT Anyway?

The Specialized High School Admissions Test, or SHSAT, is a critical exam for students seeking admission to New York City's specialized high schools. The test is used to determine which students will be offered a spot at one of these highly sought-after institutions. Given the competition for seats at these schools, it is essential that students take the SHSAT seriously and prepare adequately for the exam. Although the test covers a wide range of topics, including English and math, there are a number of resources available to help students familiarize themselves with the material. With proper preparation, students can give themselves a better chance of success on the SHSAT and gaining admission to the school of their choice.
