Avoiding Red Herrings

In the language of test-taking, a "red herring" refers to extra and unnecessary information that can use up a lot of time and mislead the student from correctly and efficiently solving the problem. In this 3-minute video, I  give a classic example of a red herring from an actual SAT exam, and explain how to recognize and avoid them.

Now that was just one example of a red herring. Of course there are other types as well that you will encounter. I will be covering these in great detail in future blog posts and articles. So just remember: if you like red herrings, go to the seafood restaurant but avoid them at all costs on the SAT exam. Don't fall into the traps!
